BENONI: South Africa women secured a 2-0 victory over Ireland women in the three-match T20I series after the final encounter at Willowmoore Park Stadium was abandoned due to heavy rain on Wednesday. The washout meant no toss took place, handing the Proteas the series triumph.
South Africa had already dominated the series with emphatic wins in the first two matches, leaving Ireland struggling to find their footing.
Dominant Series Opener by South Africa
The series began with a commanding performance from the Proteas in Cape Town, where they secured a 105-run victory. Captain Laura Wolvaardt led the charge with an unbeaten 115 off just 56 balls, hitting four sixes and 15 boundaries to propel South Africa to a formidable total of 220 runs.
Ireland’s batting lineup, however, struggled against the South African bowling attack and were bowled out for 118 in 18 overs, giving the hosts an easy win.

Proteas Continue Their Winning Streak
The second T20I saw South Africa batting first again and posting 201-5 in their 20 overs, thanks to Dane van Niekerk’s quickfire 41 from 19 balls. Ireland managed only 136-3 in reply, unable to chase down the challenging total.
Chloe Tryon was the standout performer with the ball, picking up two key wickets in her four-over spell, helping South Africa dominate all facets of the game.
With this convincing display, South Africa women demonstrated their depth in both batting and bowling, leaving Ireland searching for answers.
The final match of the T20I series was called off due to persistent rain, confirming South Africa’s series win at 2-0.
The focus now shifts to the upcoming three-match ODI series between South Africa and Ireland, scheduled to start on 13 December in East London, where both teams will look to gain momentum ahead of further international fixtures.
