Karachi Kings have moved to reinforce their batting for the business end of the Pakistan Super League Season 11, bringing in explosive England opener Jason Roy for the remainder of the tournament.
The 2020 champions confirmed the signing via their digital platforms, unveiling the seasoned right-hander as a mid-season addition. Roy slots into the squad in place of Muhammad Waseem, who has stepped away alongside compatriot Khuzaima Tanveer to fulfil international commitments.
Roy’s arrival injects proven firepower into Karachi’s top order. Now 35, the England international has built a reputation as one of the most aggressive openers in white-ball cricket, with extensive experience across global T20 leagues. His familiarity with PSL conditions further strengthens the Kings’ hand, having previously represented both Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.
Across six PSL campaigns, Roy has compiled 1,260 runs in 38 appearances, averaging 36 while maintaining a striking rate above 146. His record includes two centuries and eight half-centuries, underlining his ability to dominate attacks.
One of his most memorable performances came during the 2023 season, when he blasted an unbeaten 145 — the highest individual score in PSL history — against Peshawar Zalmi while representing Quetta.
With Karachi pushing for a strong finish, Roy’s inclusion is expected to add both experience and attacking intent at the top, as the Kings look to reassert themselves in the competition’s latter stages.
