SYLHET: Pakistan fast bowling coach Umar Gul has clarified the viral video of pacer Shaheen Afridi in the second Test against Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Shaheen Afridi was seen having a heated discussion with Umar Gul on the sidelines of the Test match a day earlier. The video soon went viral on social media with a lot of fans accusing Shaheen of disrespecting Umar Gul.
But Gul explained the discussion at the end of the third day’s press conference.
“I think yesterday when I woke up somebody had tagged me on ‘X’. It showed Shaheen was not listening to the coach,” he told reporters.
It was being shown like Shaheen Shah Afridi was not listening to the coach and he was being sent on the pitch’, he added.
Gul said that what had happened was that Hasan Ali fell and hit his head at the time.
“Actually it was the moment when Hasan Ali went down and had a blow to the head, while Shaheen was sitting outside. “Shaheen always puts tape on his arm before he bowls to protect it,” the 43-year-old revealed.
I think it takes about half an hour for a concussion substitute. “You have to make a decision in that half hour,” he told you. “The match referee told you.
“If Hasan’s condition was serious then he would be the only option available so we asked him to start taping up,” the bowling coach added.
“He was advised that if Hasan’s condition was serious then Shaheen would be our only option so he should start taping up. “Then Sarfaraz Ahmed was also coming downstairs,” he explained.
‘Hasan was hit on the head, Sarfaraz told me, so it felt like Shaheen was saying, ‘Is everything alright mentally?’
“There was nothing like that,” he said and they did not know that the camera was filming them, the clip has been circulating on social media since yesterday.
“This clip has been doing the rounds on social media since yesterday but there was nothing like that. “We didn’t know the camera was recording us,” Gul concluded.
