ISLAMABAD: The trophy for the upcoming three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia was unveiled here on Friday with both captains posing with the silverware ahead of the much-anticipated contest.
Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi and Australia’s stand-in captain Josh Inglis were present at the ceremony held at a local hotel in the capital, where the trophy for the bilateral series was unveiled in front of media representatives and officials.
The ODI series will be Australia’s first 50-over bilateral tour to Pakistan since 2022, when the hosts won the series 2-1.
Unveiled today, the trophy is a modern design, in silver, with a tall vertical shape rising from a rectangular base and topped by a shiny sphere resembling a cricket ball.
The first ODI will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on May 30 while the remaining two matches will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on June 2 and June 4, respectively.
All three matches will start at 4:30 PM (PST) with the toss to take place half an hour before.
Pakistan also has a new captain in Shaheen Afridi, with a number of senior players coming back into the ODI fold, including Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan.
Meanwhile, Australia will be led by wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis in the absence of regular captain Mitchell Marsh, who is sidelined through injury.
The two sides last met earlier this year in a three-match T20I series in Lahore, where Pakistan registered a dominant 3-0 clean sweep.
