COLOMBO: Sri Lanka has appointed Kusal Mendis as their captain for white-ball formats for the upcoming all-format tour of the West Indies.
The tour will consist of three ODIs followed by the same number of T20Is. The Islanders will close out the tour with a couple of Test matches.
Experienced batter Kusal Mendis will lead the white-ball side, with all-rounder Kamindu Mendis as his deputy. Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka, who captained the ODI and T20I sides, respectively, will be replaced by the former.
The test vice-captaincy of Kamindu Mendis under Dhananjaya de Silva remains unchanged.
Experienced members of the ODI squad bowling attack are Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Dushmantha Chameera. Dinesh Chandimal, Prabath Jayasuriya, and Lahiru Kumara are making a comeback to the Test side, while Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Sonal Dinusha will be the new faces.
The ODI series starts the tour on June 3, and all the white-ball matches will be played at Sabina Park, Kingston. The Test series will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound.
