Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium sets the stage Wednesday evening as two of the Pakistan Super League’s most storied franchises — Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi — go head-to-head in the 32nd fixture of PSL Season 11.
The rivalry between these clubs carries real weight in league history. Across 24 previous encounters, Peshawar Zalmi have clearly had the upper hand, walking away victorious on 16 occasions compared to Karachi Kings’ eight wins. That record will be on the minds of both camps as they step onto the Gaddafi turf.
Peshawar Zalmi will be led by the ever-reliable Babar Azam, who lines up alongside English campaigner James Vince and Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis at the top of the order. The middle order features the experienced Iftikhar Ahmed and hard-hitting Abdul Samad, while New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell and Australia’s Aaron Hardie add crucial depth and balance. Sufiyan Muqeem, Mohammad Basit Ali, and Ali Raza round out the bowling attack.
Karachi Kings, meanwhile, will bank on the firepower of Australian opener David Warner, who skippers the side, alongside English veteran Jason Roy at the top. Reeza Hendricks and Salman Ali Agha add solidity in the middle, with Azam Khan expected to play his trademark aggressive role behind the stumps. England’s Moeen Ali brings genuine all-round quality, supported by Khushdil Shah’s big-hitting ability. The pace department features Abbas Afridi, Hassan Ali, and Shahid Aziz, with Zahid Mehmood offering the spin option.
With both squads packed with international talent and pride firmly on the line, this contest promises to be one of the more compelling nights of this PSL campaign.
