Pakistan have slipped to ninth in the latest ICC Test rankings, marking their lowest-ever position in the format after England completed a 3-0 series sweep.
The drop saw Pakistan fall one place, while the West Indies moved up a position. Zimbabwe remain in 10th with 17 rating points. There were no other changes among the top 10 teams, with Australia retaining the No. 1 ranking and England staying fifth despite their dominant series victory.
Pakistan’s decline comes after a disappointing Test campaign in England, where the hosts won all three matches at Headingley, Lord’s and Edgbaston.
England began the series with a commanding innings-and-103-run victory over Pakistan. Joe Root’s side then secured a 194-run win in the second Test, further increasing the pressure on the visitors.
Following the second defeat, Pakistan made changes to their setup, including the removal of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed. However, the changes failed to produce an immediate turnaround.
England wrapped up the series with an eight-wicket victory in the third Test, completing a comprehensive clean sweep on home soil.
Pakistan’s struggles extend beyond the Test rankings. They are also at the bottom of the ICC World Test Championship standings, having recorded just two victories from nine matches with a win-loss ratio of 14.81.
The latest series defeat adds to a difficult period for Pakistan in Test cricket. They have won only seven of their last 20 matches and have suffered six series whitewashes across their previous 12 Test series.
