DUBAI: Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed has jumped to his career-best fourth place in the latest ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings released on Wednesday.
Abrar moved up seven positions to 4th spot with 633 rating points, while Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Afridi was another notable gainer, moving up four steps to sit on the 13th position.
Both players have seen their rankings improve after performances in the ongoing series against Australia. Other than Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Afridi, no other Pakistani bowler had any major gains.
Rashid Khan of Afghanistan remains on top of the ODI bowlers’ rankings, and England’s Jofra Archer is second. Keshav Maharaj of South Africa is third.
In batting, there were no major changes in the top 10 barring Pakistan batter Salman Ali Agha. Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand remained at the top spot, while India’s Virat Kohli is second and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran third.
Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam stayed sixth with 687 points while Agha slipped four places to be 14th.
Meanwhile, England’s Joe Root maintained his lead in the Test batting rankings with 880 rating points. His team-mate Harry Brook was second with 857 points, just ahead of Australia’s Travis Head on 853 points.
New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra moved up two places to enter the top 10 while India’s Shubman Gill dropped a place to 10th.
Pakistan’s star duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were among the gainers, moving up one place each to 21st and 20th, respectively.
Among the bowlers, India’s Jasprit Bumrah continued to lead with 879 rating points. Australia’s Mitchell Starc is second, while Pat Cummins has moved up one place to third with 832 points.
Pakistan spinner Noman Ali is the only bowler from his country in the Test top 10. He is now ranked 4th with 817 rating points.
