Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha has confirmed that the national side will not undergo any significant changes ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Speaking on the PCB podcast, the skipper discussed his cricketing journey. He also shared insights about Pakistan’s team plans, noting that the squad combination is clear and stable.

Salman explained that management has already determined which players will fill each role in the playing XI and the larger squad.

“I don’t think there will be any major changes before the World Cup. This is the combination we will stick with. The roles for our XI are clear, and you will continue to see players in those roles,” he said.

The captain emphasised that Pakistan’s recent strong results are due to consistent team selection and a stable core group of players.

“We have played with this group for six months, and the results have started to show,” he added.

Salman emphasised that Pakistan’s senior players are well acquainted with Sri Lankan conditions. Sri Lanka will host all of Pakistan’s matches under the hybrid model for the 2026 World Cup.

He added that the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting January 8 in Dambulla, is highly important. It will especially help new players adapt to subcontinent conditions.

Salman also noted that, despite progress, improvement is still possible.

“The team is moving in the right direction, but we can still get better. Our goal is to take Pakistan to the level fans expect,” he concluded.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and India, with Pakistan scheduled to play all their matches in Sri Lanka.
