CHENNAI: New Zealand delivered a ruthless performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, cruising to a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 174, openers Finn Allen and Tim Seifert made light work of the UAE bowling attack, reaching the total in just 15.2 overs. The duo stitched together a record-breaking unbeaten opening stand, showcasing power, precision, and complete control throughout the chase.
Earlier, UAE posted a competitive 173 for six after being put in to bat. Captain Muhammad Waseem led from the front with a composed unbeaten 66 off 45 balls, striking four boundaries and three sixes. He found solid support from Alishan Sharafu, with the pair adding 107 runs for the second wicket.
A moment of brilliance in the field from Mark Chapman finally broke the partnership, but UAE lacked the depth to fully capitalise, as New Zealand comfortably sealed the win.
