COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – The highly anticipated SAFF U17 Championship 2025 is officially set to kick off in September, with the spotlight firmly on the fierce encounter between traditional rivals India and Pakistan, scheduled for 22 September at the Racecourse International Stadium, Colombo.
Group Division and Teams
The tournament will feature seven national teams, divided into two competitive groups:
- Group A: Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh
- Group B: India, Pakistan, Maldives, Bhutan
This group format promises intense action as teams compete for a spot in the knockout rounds.
Pakistan U17 Team Fixtures
Pakistan’s U-17 squad will begin their journey with a match against Bhutan on 16 September. They will then face the Maldives on 19 September, before clashing with arch-rivals India in what is expected to be a tournament-defining game on 22 September.
Key Tournament Dates
- Semi-Finals: 25 September 2025
- Final Match: 27 September 2025
Only the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, making every group-stage game pivotal in the race for the championship.
Last Year’s Recap
In the 2024 edition, India clinched the title, beating Bangladesh 2-0 in the final at the Changlimithang Stadium in Bhutan. Meanwhile, Pakistan made it to the semi-finals after thrashing Sri Lanka 5-1 in the group stage but fell short in the semis, losing to Bangladesh in a dramatic penalty shootout.
