LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially extended the deadline for submitting bids for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, citing strong interest from investors across multiple international markets. The revised deadline for bid submissions has now been set for 22 December 2025, providing potential stakeholders additional time to complete their proposals.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the extension through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. In his statement, he emphasized the overwhelming response from international investors and highlighted the board’s continued efforts to globalize the league’s commercial footprint.

According to Naqvi, investors from Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and other regions have shown keen interest in acquiring ownership of new HBL PSL teams. The surge in global attention prompted the PCB to allow an extra week for bid submissions, ensuring broader participation and a competitive bidding process.

The deadline extension follows the PSL’s first international roadshow, which was hosted at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The event marked a significant step in the PCB’s strategy to promote the league on a global platform. Several prominent Pakistan cricketers, including Babar Azam and Haris Rauf, along with former national players, attended the roadshow, adding credibility and star appeal to the initiative.

Building on the momentum generated in London, the PCB is preparing to host a second global roadshow in New York. The upcoming event is designed to engage North American investors and further strengthen the league’s international visibility. The New York roadshow will take place ahead of the franchise auction, which is scheduled for 6 January 2026.

In an official press release, the PCB stated that the New York event is a key component of its broader global outreach plan. The board aims to showcase the PSL’s commercial viability, expanding global fan base, and long-term growth potential to prospective investors. The PCB believes these efforts will help position the PSL alongside other leading T20 leagues worldwide.

The Pakistan Super League, which was launched in 2016 with five teams, has steadily grown in stature and commercial value. In 2018, the league expanded with the addition of Multan Sultans, bringing the total number of teams to six.

The inclusion of two new franchises will mark the first major expansion of the PSL in seven years, increasing the total number of teams to eight. This expansion is expected to enhance competitiveness, create new regional fan bases, and unlock additional commercial opportunities for broadcasters, sponsors, and franchise owners.

With strong international interest and a structured expansion plan, the PCB views the next phase of the PSL as a critical milestone in transforming the league into a truly global cricketing brand.
