Dubai: Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha expressed determination to strengthen his team’s batting in the middle overs as they gear up for the much-anticipated showdown against India in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours.
Chasing a modest 147, the UAE side faltered under pressure and collapsed for just 105 runs in 17.4 overs. Despite restricting Pakistan to a relatively low total, the UAE batters could not capitalize on the opportunity.
For Pakistan, the bowling attack delivered once again, with Abrar Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf claiming two wickets each.
Speaking after the match, Salman highlighted the need for improvement in the middle-order batting.
“We got the job done, but our batting in the middle overs still needs work. That has been a concern and we must address it moving forward,” the 31-year-old captain said.
He praised Shaheen Afridi’s all-round performance, noting his growing contribution with the bat alongside his bowling brilliance.
“Shaheen’s batting has improved a lot. He’s already exceptional with the ball, but now he’s becoming a valuable asset with the bat as well. If we handle the middle overs better, we can push scores beyond 170 consistently,” Salman added.
Looking ahead to the India clash, Salman reflected on Pakistan’s strong form in recent months.
“Saim has been outstanding for us, often pulling the team back into games. If we continue playing the way we have over the last four months, we’re confident about facing any opposition, including India,” he concluded.
With Pakistan set to face India in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours, fans eagerly await another thrilling chapter in cricket’s biggest rivalry.
