The Pakistan cricket team has announced that it will donate its match fees from the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 final to the families of those who lost their lives in the May 7 attack. The tragic incident claimed several innocent lives, and the players have dedicated their earnings to support the victims’ families.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared the development through its official social media account, stating:

“The Pakistan Cricket Team has dedicated its Asia Cup final match fees to the innocent victims martyred in the May 7 attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families.”

In a similar gesture, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav announced that he would donate his match fees to India’s armed forces and the victims of the Pahalgam attack.

The Asia Cup 2025 final saw India defeat Pakistan by five wickets, with Tilak Varma and Kuldeep Yadav playing crucial roles in securing the title for India. Despite the competitive spirit, both teams displayed solidarity by dedicating their match earnings to humanitarian causes.

The tournament had been marred by tension from the very beginning, as it marked the first encounter between Pakistan and India following their military confrontation earlier this year in May.

The final also witnessed controversy during the trophy presentation. The ceremony, scheduled immediately after the match, was delayed by over an hour due to India’s refusal to accept the silverware from Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of both the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the PCB. Later, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the Indian team had declined to receive the trophy directly from Naqvi, adding another twist to the already heated rivalry.
