Liverpool manager Arne Slot recognised on Tuesday that Mohamed Salah was frustrated after being omitted from the starting lineup during Liverpool’s pivotal 2-0 win over West Ham. Despite the decision, Slot praised Salah’s professionalism and unwavering commitment.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward, whom Slot has dubbed “superhuman,” has faltered in matching his previous form this season, scoring just four Premier League goals compared to last season’s 29-goal Golden Boot performance.
Slot said Salah’s response to being benched was natural. “Every elite player feels disappointed when they don’t start. Mo has delivered so much to this club, and he continues to exemplify discipline and dedication,” Slot said.
The Dutch manager stressed that Salah stayed supportive of teammates and maintained exemplary professionalism. “You can’t compete consistently every three days if you allow emotions to dominate. Salah understands how to remain fit and contribute, whether or not he starts,” Slot added.
Salah will depart for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15, and Slot emphasised the meticulous coordination among the club, Salah, and the national team to secure optimal results for all parties.
Liverpool, now eighth in the Premier League, faces Sunderland next, hoping Salah will regain peak form in the coming matches.
