India are set to add another assignment to their packed international schedule with a short tour of Zimbabwe in July, where the two sides will clash in a three-match T20I series. The fixtures are scheduled to take place in Harare on July 23, 25, and 26, as confirmed by Zimbabwe Cricket on Wednesday.
The bilateral engagement will serve as a prelude to a longer white-ball contest between the nations, with Zimbabwe also slated to travel to India in January for a three-match ODI series.
The last time India visited Zimbabwe was in 2024, when they dominated a five-game T20I series, sealing a convincing 4-1 victory. Since then, the Men in Blue have further cemented their status as a powerhouse in the shortest format, recently lifting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav.
Zimbabwe, currently placed 11th in the ICC T20I rankings, have shown signs of resurgence despite their lower standing. Their spirited showing at the recent T20 World Cup, where they exceeded expectations by advancing to the second round, has boosted confidence within the squad.
Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni expressed enthusiasm about hosting the reigning world champions, emphasizing the value such contests bring to the team’s development.
Encounters against India, he noted, consistently attract significant attention and provide an ideal stage for Zimbabwe’s players to measure themselves against elite competition. He added that the upcoming series offers a vital opportunity to build on their recent progress and continue evolving as a competitive unit on the international stage.
Makoni also highlighted the broader significance of the tour, stating that it would not only deliver high-quality cricket but also deepen the cricketing ties between the two nations while offering crucial exposure to Zimbabwe’s emerging talent.
