England Cricket Board has unveiled its provisional squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Alongside this, the team has also announced the players selected for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, which includes three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is next month.
Provisional T20 World Cup 2026 Squad
Harry Brook (C), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood
White-ball captain Harry Brook will lead England in both the Sri Lanka tour and the T20 World Cup. Key players such as Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, and Phil Salt maintain their spots after representing England in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the team exited in the semi-finals against India.
Despite sustaining a left-side strain during the Ashes, Jofra Archer has been retained, reflecting England’s confidence in the pace spearhead. Josh Tongue has been handed his first T20I call-up, while Brydon Carse will join the Sri Lanka tour as England evaluate pace options under local conditions.
Will Jacks makes a comeback to both ODI and T20I squads after missing the New Zealand series in October. Zak Crawley returns to the ODI setup after a long gap since December 2023, aiming to build on his eight previous caps. England’s experienced Joe Root strengthens the middle order in the 50-over squad for the Sri Lanka series.
