Argentina have finalized their pre-World Cup schedule, confirming two international friendlies in the United States as part of their final tune-up before the global showpiece begins in June.
The reigning champions will first take on Honduras on June 6 at Kyle Field in Texas, before meeting Iceland three days later at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Alabama. These fixtures are expected to serve as crucial preparation matches as the South American giants fine-tune their squad and tactics ahead of the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to kick off on June 11, will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Argentina have been placed in Group J, where they will compete against Austria, Algeria, and Jordan in the opening phase.
This edition of the tournament marks a historic expansion, featuring 48 teams divided into 12 groups. A total of 104 matches will be played, making it the largest World Cup in history.
The competition will begin with Mexico facing South Africa at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, setting the stage for over a month of football action. The group stage is scheduled to conclude on June 27, after which the knockout rounds will determine the finalists.
Argentina’s title defence will get underway on June 16, when they face Algeria in Kansas City in their opening group match. With heightened expectations as defending champions, the team will be aiming to replicate their previous success on football’s biggest stage.
The final is set to be held on July 19, bringing the curtain down on what promises to be a landmark tournament spanning three nations.
