LAHORE: Emerging opener Saim Ayub added another feather to his cap on Wednesday, reaching a notable career landmark during the Pakistan Super League encounter between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Multan Sultans.
The left-hander crossed the 1,000-run mark in PSL history in emphatic fashion, striking the opening ball of the innings—delivered by Shehzad Gul—for a boundary. With that shot, he became the 28th player to join the tournament’s exclusive 1,000-run club.
This achievement places Ayub alongside some of Pakistan’s most accomplished T20 names, including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Although Ayub has represented multiple franchises in the league, the majority of his runs came during his stint with Peshawar Zalmi, where he accumulated 860 runs across three seasons from 2023 to 2025. His PSL journey began earlier with Quetta Gladiators in 2021, where he managed 114 runs in seven innings during a relatively quiet debut campaign.
Beyond his batting exploits, the 23-year-old has also contributed with the ball, taking 14 wickets in the competition while maintaining steady bowling figures.
However, despite reaching the milestone in style, Ayub couldn’t convert his start into a commanding innings in the ongoing match, departing after scoring 27 runs from 20 deliveries.
