LAHORE: Wet weather forced a delay to the toss ahead of the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 encounter between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday, leaving players and fans waiting as rain continued to fall.
Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam, entered the fixture with strong momentum after pulling off an impressive chase in their previous outing. The side successfully hunted down a daunting 215-run target against Rawalpindi’s new franchise, showcasing depth across their batting lineup. Mohammad Haris led the charge with a brisk 47 off just 28 balls, while Babar contributed a steady 39. All-rounder Michael Bracewell also played a key role, finishing unbeaten on 35 to guide the team home.

On the other hand, Islamabad United — one of the league’s most successful sides — are looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat in their last match. They were outplayed by a revamped Multan Sultans unit, led by Ashton Turner. The Sultans chased down a 172-run target comfortably, thanks to a composed 55 from Josh Philippe and an unbeaten 43 from Turner.

With both teams eager to assert themselves early in the tournament, the weather interruption has added an unexpected twist to what promises to be a competitive contest.
