Persuading the Indian government on the issue of the Champions Trophy has become a challenge for the new ICC chairman Jay Shah.
According to media reports, the issue of hosting the ICC Champions Trophy event is still pending and the deadlock persists. Pakistan has to answer yes or no to the Indian board after consulting the government.
Due to Pakistan’s stance, the ICC is worried about its financial model, while India’s delaying tactics have increased the ICC’s problems.
On the other hand, Jay Shah has now become the chairman of cricket’s global governing body and the Champions Trophy issue has become a challenge for Jay Shah as he has to persuade the Indian government to sign a partnership agreement.
Pressure from broadcasters and commercial partners has also increased and the broadcasters have called a meeting on December 5 to plan the event, in which the schedule will definitely be discussed.
